TOP 10
These are my top 10 favourite books
this year:
01
Divergent by Veronica Roth
Okay, so personally, Divergent is the best book that I have ever read in my whole entire life. I think it is so empowering and such a beautiful story-line, and to whoever out there who it reading this and hasn't read Divergent, YOU MUST READ IT NOW! I'm serious, this book will make you laugh, cry, and beg for more. The story follows 16-year-old Tris Prior, as she struggles to fit into a society which is made up of factions based on different personalities. My recommendation: aged 11+.

The Red Queen Series by Victoria Aveyard
This was such a great series!
Like Divergent, the Hunger Games is also a survival story. It tells the story of Katniss Everdeen who lives in a world where every year there is a Hunger Games, which is a fight-to-the-death competition with two tributes from each of the twelve districts. When Katniss volunteers to protect her sister, she is thrust into a world of all kinds of excitement and danger. My recommendation aged 11+.
03
Murder Most Unladylike by Robin Stevens
I first read these last year and I reread a bit of it recently and I have completely forgotten how ultimately spectacular this book is. If you love crime and murder mystery books, this is the series for you! I think it's great how you can practically solve the mystery yourself. The series is about two school girls called Hazel and Daisy who form a detective society and find themselves caught up in the middle of many crimes. I seriously recommend this book! My recommendation: aged 10+.
04
The Harry Potter series by J. K. Rowling
This series will always be one close to heart. I truly love it. The books are about a boy called Harry who finds out that he is a wizard and discovers a world full of magic and endless possibilities. He goes to school in Hogwarts and is sorted into Gryffindor (the brave house). However these are dark times at Hogwarts and Harry could be in grave danger... my recommendation: aged 7+.
05
The Book Thief by Marcus Zusak
I haven't actually finished this book - I've got about 100 pages to go - but I absolutely love it. This is a story about Liesel Meminger, who lives on Himmel Street in 1339 Nazi Germany with her foster parents as her mother couldn't take care of her. When her family hides a Jew in their basement, Liesel's life suddenly becomes very dangerous. My recommendation: aged 12+.
06
The Fault in Our Stars by John Green
This is definitely one of the greatest and most well-known romance books of all time. This tells the story of Hazel, a typical 16-year-old in every aspect apart from the fact that she has lung cancer. When she meets Augustus Waters at a cancer support group, her whole life changes... My recommendation: aged 13+.

07
The Mortal Instruments series by Cassandra Clare
This is a really good book series. It is about a 16-year-old girl named Clary Fray, who discovers that demons exist and that there is a hidden world of shadowhunters that kill them. Go read this now! My recommendation: it depends... this book is okay for 12+ but the rest of the series I'd say 13/14+.
08
The Land of Stories by Chris Colfer
This book series is great, although I haven't actually finished it. It is about two twins called Alex and Conner who find a secret world inside a book called The Land of Stories, where all fairy tales are real. But the have a problem - how will they return to the real world? My recommendation: 9+.
09
Geek Girl series by Holly Smale
This series is awesome too. It's about a girl called Harriet Manners, who all her life has been called a geek (which she is, proudly). One life-changing day, Harriet gets spotted by a modelling agency, and has a chance to reinvent herself and her image, but the question is - does she take it or leave it? My recommendation: 11+.
