Hey all! So it's 2018 - wow, saying that feels weird - and I hope everyone had a happy new year!

Yes, a year full of blogging and coffee. I wrote a ton of resolutions (which, honestly, I doubt I'll actually follow, but it made me feel organised to actually write them, haha) and one of my resolutions is to read a larger diversity of books. Obviously I love everything YA, but my favourite genre is contemporary, and I'm really hoping to read more fantasy novels, even though I'm not a huge fan of fantasy. My ambition this year is to read 100 books (maybe more), which should be hard, but I like a good challenge!

Another one of my resolutions is to blog more frequently. Because man, I always forget! For example I was nearly finished writing a Christmas blog post, and I forgot to publish it, and... well yeah, by the time I got back onto my blog Christmas was over. Urgh. But anyway, here is a recap of my year with books, and what I'm hoping to read this year:

Books read in 2017:

Best book in a series:

Divergent by Veronica Roth. I mean, I just love it. I totally, completely love it. 1000000000000+ stars out of five. I'm crazy, I know. Super huge and overly emotional review to come! Also, if it hasn't been made clear to you yet, this is my FANDOM. My heart belongs fully to this trilogy.

You should read this if you like dystopian young adult novels including a strong female protagonist, thought-provoking themes, rebellion and just a dash of romance ;)

Best standalone:

I honestly can't choose (gosh I'm so indecisive , so this one is a tie between One of Us is Lying by Karen M. McManus, and Juniper Lemon's Happiness Index by Julie Israel.

You should read this if you enjoy a good murder mystery and a coming-of-age contemporary story, which although it contains romance is a page-turning thriller that will keep you dying to figure out what will happen next! Also, character development is very strong. You can check out my goodreads review of it right here. Oh come on, you know it sounds cool, just click on the hyperlink already! :P

You should read this if you love a heart-warming YA contemporary novel who struggles to continue her life normally after her sister's death in a tragic car accident, filled with mystery, lots of suspense and revelations that will make you feel all the feels!

Sounds intriguing? I like to think that my review covers everything about it so voila!

Oh, and also that girl up there is not me. I'm not crazy. It's not like I've jumped up and down squealing crazily over a book before, no way, ha ha, heh...

Okay who am I kidding, I totally have.

Most disappointing book:

City of Fallen Angels by Cassandra Clare.

I really, really enjoyed the first three books of the series, but I just didn't get into this one. I felt it was a mess, really. The only thing I really liked about it was Simon's story because honestly, he's the only character that really interests me. Definitely not my-head-is-so-huge-it's-full-of-ego Jace and the Mary Sue that is Clary Fray, and urgh, them together is even worse. So yeah, not really what I had hoped for. :(

First book read:

Feel the Fear (the 4th book in the Ruby Redfort series) by Lauren Child.

I absolutely love this series, and I gave up on it halfway through, but re-discovered it, which was definitely worthwhile. My review can be found here!

Last book read:

Juniper Lemon's Happiness Index by Julie Israel, but enough has already been said about this book, so I'll leave it there!

...and here's what's new in 2018!

What I'm currently reading:

Yes, my first book of the year is The Names They Gave us by Emery Lord! And can I just say what a beautiful cover that is? Every book cover needs to be like to be as beautiful as that. Anyway, I'm about 50 or so pages away from finishing it, and man, it's so GOOD! I was a bit iffy because it sounded like a regular contemporary novel, but nope. I highly recommend it, and I'll write a full review of it when I'm finished!

Most anticipated release of the year:

A Thousand Perfect Notes by C. G. Drews, AKA Cait (Paper Fury)!! Oh my gosh, I absolutely LOVE her blog! If anyone's reading this and doesn't know who Paper Fury is, google it right now and go onto her blog!

And oh my gosh! A cover has been revealed! Or at least, I think so anyway.

Well, that's my year in a nutshell! What's been your favourite book that you read in 2017? What should I definitely read this year? Peace out!

Bubbles xoxo
